On the Library tab of the Learner Experience (LX), your users can view their Optional Learning content. Providing optional learning encourages users to choose training content that interests them and can help you create a stronger security awareness culture.
The Library tab is hidden from your users until you enable one of the optional learning features in your Account Settings. There are two optional learning features: AIDA Recommended Optional Learning, available to Diamond accounts, and Optional Training Campaigns, available to all paid accounts. Diamond accounts can use both features together, if desired.
AIDA Recommended Optional Learning
Available to Diamond accounts, AIDA Recommended Optional Learning allows you to provide relevant training content for your users without creating an optional training campaign. When this setting is enabled, all users will be able to view the Library tab in their LX. Multiple types of recommended content will be listed on the Library tab. For more information about this content, see the list below:
-
Recommended For You: Content listed in this section has been selected by KnowBe4’s Artificial Intelligence Defense Agent (AIDA). AIDA recommends content based on the following information:
- The optional learning content that the user has completed
- The content that has been assigned to the user in a training campaign
- How the user has rated content assigned to them in a training campaign
As users complete more content and provide more feedback, they will receive more relevant recommendations.
- Recommended by Your Organization: If the user is enrolled in an optional training campaign, they will see content from that campaign listed in this section.
- Recommended Topic: Social Media: Content listed in this section covers social media, which is one of our most popular and relevant topics.
At the top of the Library tab, users can browse their recommended content by using the Content Types and Topics filters or by searching for keywords. For more information about the Library tab, see our Learner Experience Guide.
If a user has set their Training Language, the content available in that language will be shown first in their recommendations and search results.
Regulatory and Risk Management topics that are unrelated to Security Awareness training will not be included in your users' recommended learning and will not appear in the library search.

Creating Optional Training Campaigns
Once you have enabled optional training campaigns in your Account Settings, all training campaigns that do not have an end date are considered optional.
Follow the steps below to create an optional training campaign:
- From your KnowBe4 console, navigate to the Training tab.
- Click the Create Training Campaign button at the top-right corner of the page.
- Fill out the fields on the Create New Training Campaign page. For more information about our recommended settings, see the screenshot and list below:
- End Date: Select No End Date.
-
Content: Select the training content that you would like to add to the LX library.
We recommend that you select no more than 25 content items.
- Enroll Users: Select All Users if the content you selected is general information for your entire organization. Select Specific Users if the content you selected is more targeted or role-based.
- Notifications: We recommend that you do not add notifications to this campaign. Training notifications are best used for required training. Since this is an optional campaign, we suggest sharing our Learner Support Guide: Navigating the Learner Experience article with your users.
When you are satisfied with your settings, click the Create Campaign button at the bottom of the page.
Once you have created an optional training campaign, you can track the campaign's progress. For more information, see our Creating and Managing Training Campaigns article.
