Search functions similar to Smart Groups

It would be beneficial to have the report/search generation similar to that of Smart groups. I have any Associate asking about a manager with 10 direct reports. I wanted to use the users tab for finding all users who report to "John Doe" but that is not possible. 

Other workarounds include exporting all users and sorting by that manager or creating a test smart group and search that way. The smart group functionality is awesome, but it should not be limited to smart groups only. 

Please expand it to the users tab!! Thanks!
