How to Use the Phishing Templates Tab
The Phishing Templates tab was designed to help you find the perfect phishing template for your organization’s needs. On this tab, you can filter templates, search for templates by keywords, and find templates localized in your users’ languages. Once you find a template, you can clone it for use in phishing campaigns.

Search for a Template
Search for a Template
In your KMSAT admin console, navigate to Phishing > Phishing Templates (Beta). On this tab, you can search for templates by one of four primary filter options: Categories, Languages, Difficulty, and Search. You can also click Additional Filters for more ways to filter the template list.
You can filter the templates list by the following criteria:
- Categories: You can use this filter to select one or more template categories. See our article titled Phishing Template Category Glossary for the full list of categories.
- Languages: You can use this filter to find templates localized in any of the selected languages or in all of the selected languages.
- Difficulty: You can use this filter to find templates with the specified difficulty rating. See our article titled What Are Template Difficulty Ratings and How Can I Use Them? for more information.
- Search: You can use this filter to search for templates with a specific keyword in the title.
- Topics: You can use this filter to find templates that cover specific topics. Topics include Social Media, Entertainment, Passwords & Authentication, and more.
- Attack Vectors: You can use this filter to search for templates that include specific attack vectors. Attack vectors include Link, Reply-to, and various types of attachments.
- Template Features: You can use this filter to search for templates with specific features. Features include Branded, Fake Attachments, Data Entry Landing Page, and more.
- Placeholders: You can use this filter to search for templates that contain specific placeholders. Placeholders include Company Name, Location, Phone Number, and more.
Search Results List
Once your filters are set, all of the templates that match your criteria will populate the results list. To learn more about the results list, see below.
- Template Name: This column lists each template by name. You can sort this column alphabetically.
- Some template names include tags that describe what is included in the template. For more information, see our article titled Understanding Tags on Templates and Landing Pages.
- Category: This column shows which category the template belongs to.
- Languages: This column lists which languages the template is available in. You can sort this column by the number of languages available. If a template is only available in one language, that language is displayed. If the template has been localized in multiple languages, the language count is displayed.
- Hover your mouse over the language count to view the full list of available languages for that template. (Click here to view an example).

- Difficulty: This column displays the difficulty rating for each template. You can sort this column from low to high or from high to low.

- Updated On: This column displays the date that the template was last updated. You can sort this column chronologically.
- Origin: This column displays where the phishing template originated from. There are four possible origins:
- KnowBe4:
These templates were created by KnowBe4.
- Community:
These templates were created by other KnowBe4 customers.
- Reported Phish:
These templates include phishing emails that were reported to KnowBe4 using the PAB (Phish Alert Button). We replace any malicious links in the phishing emails with safe KnowBe4-owned domains.
- Real Scam:
These templates were inspired by real, present-day phishing attacks.
- KnowBe4:
- Actions: You have the option to Clone
or Preview
the template.

- Clear Filters: You can click this button to remove all selected filters and reset the template list.
Clone a Template for Use
Once you have found a template to use, you can clone and save it to the My Templates section of your console. To clone a template, follow the steps below.
- In the Actions column, click the Clone icon
. The Select Language Versions to Clone modal will open.
- Select the check box next to each language version that you would like to use.
- Once you have selected all of the desired languages, click the Clone button at the bottom of the modal.
- Navigate to the Email Templates subtab.
- Under My Templates, click on the Drafts category. Each language version of the cloned template will be listed in this category.
- You can edit and organize the cloned templates to your liking. To use these templates in a phishing campaign, move them from the Drafts category to another category on the My Templates page.
