Phishing Templates (Beta) Advanced Features Guide

In your KMSAT console, you can find the Phishing Templates (Beta) subtab under the Phishing tab. By opting in to the advanced features on this subtab, you can exclude system templates from your phishing campaigns, manage templates, create new templates, and manage template topics.

How to Opt In to Advanced Features

By default, advanced features for the Phishing Templates (Beta) subtab are disabled. To use the advanced features, click the Opt In button. You can opt out at any time by clicking the Opt Out button. If you opt out of the advanced features, any phishing campaigns that you’ve created since opting in will be deactivated.

Note:When you opt in to the advanced beta features, the Email Templates subtab of the Phishing tab will no longer display in your console. You will be able to use the My Templates section of the Phishing Templates (Beta) subtab to search for your templates instead.

System Templates

In the System Templates section of the Phishing Templates (Beta) subtab, you can search through system templates by using filters. You can also exclude or clone templates for phishing campaigns.

Cloning Templates for Use

In the System Templates section, you can clone a template to use in your phishing campaigns. When you clone a template, it will automatically be saved to the My Templates section of the Phishing Templates (Beta) subtab.

To clone a template for use, follow the steps below:

  1. Log in to your KMSAT console.
  2. Navigate to Phishing > Phishing Templates (Beta) > System Templates.
  3. Select the check box next to the template or templates you want to clone. Then, click Clone Selected Templates.
  4. The Clone Selected Templates pop-up will open. Select a language and topic for the templates.
  5. Once you've made your selections, click Clone at the bottom of the pop-up window.
  6. Navigate to the My Templates section.
  7. To use a template in a phishing campaign, move it from the Drafts topic to another topic on the My Templates page. To move it, follow the steps below:
    1. Click the Topics drop-down menu and select Drafts.
    2. Select the check box next to the template you want to select.
    3. Click the Select Topic drop-down menu and select where you want to move the template.
    4. Click the Add button.
  8. (Optional) If you would like, you can edit the template to meet your organization's needs. For more information, see the Creating and Editing Phishing Email Templates section of our How to Create and Edit Email Templates and Landing Pages article.

Excluding Templates from Campaigns

In the System Templates section, you can exclude templates from being used in phishing campaigns. For example, if you would like to create a phishing campaign that uses automated template selection to select templates from the Social Networking topic, you could use this feature to exclude a template that is in that topic.

To get started, click the Exclude Templates link, which will take you to the Template Exclusions page. On this page, you can use the filters to exclude templates that meet your selected criteria.

Note: Translated versions of these templates will also be excluded from phishing campaigns.

  1. Topics: You can use this filter to exclude templates that cover specific topics.
  2. Attack Vectors: You can use this filter to exclude templates that include specific attack vectors.
  3. Template Features: You can use this filter to exclude templates that have specific features.
  4. Placeholders: You can use this filter to exclude templates that contain specific placeholders.

To apply your filters, click the Save Changes button. 

My Templates

In the My Templates section of the Phishing Templates (Beta) subtab,  you can search through your templates and manage your template topics.

Searching for Your Templates

In the My Templates section, you can use filters to search for your templates.

My Templates Filters

  1. Topics: You can use this filter to find templates for specific topics. You can also use the Show Excluded Topics toggle to show Excluded Topics in the list. For a full list of topics, see our Phishing Template Category Glossary.
  2. Languages: You can use this filter to find templates that are localized in the selected languages.
  3. Difficulty: You can use this filter to find templates that have the selected difficulty ratings. For more information, see our What Are Template Difficulty Ratings and How Can I Use Them? article.
  4. Search: You can use this filter to find templates that have a specific keyword in the title.

Viewing Your Search Results

As you select filters in the My Templates section, the templates that meet your criteria will display in the results table. In this table, you can view information such as the template's name, category, difficulty rating, and when it was last updated. You can also clone templates, preview templates, and clear your filters.

  1. Import: You can click this link to open an Import Templates pop-up window where you can import custom templates.
  2. Clear Filters: You can click this link to remove all of your selected filters and reset the template list.
  3. Preview: You can click this icon to preview the template.

Managing Your Template Topics

In the My Templates section, you can add, edit, and remove template topics. By adding a topic to your templates, you can easily find and select the types of templates you want to add to your phishing campaigns.

Before you add a template to a topic, you'll need to add a topic. To add a topic, follow the steps below: 

  1. Log in to your KMSAT console.
  2. Click the Manage Topics link at the top-right corner of the My Templates section. 
  3. Click the Add button.
  4. In the text field, enter a name for the topic. 
  5. Click Save.

Once you add topics, you can edit or remove them by clicking the pencil or trash can icons. You can add templates to more than one topic.

Then, you can add or remove templates from your topics. To add or remove templates from topics, follow the steps below:

  1. Log in to your KMSAT console.
  2. Navigate to Phishing > Phishing Templates (Beta) > My Templates.
  3. Select the check box next to the template.
  4. From the Select Topic drop-down menu, select the topic that you would like to add the template to or remove the template from. Select Topic drop-down menu
  5. Click the Add or Remove button, depending on whether you would like to add the template to or remove the template from the topic. 

Creating Phishing Campaigns with Template Topics

When you create phishing campaigns, you'll have access to an updated New Phishing Campaign page, which includes a Template Topics drop-down menu. This drop-down allows you to select topics for your phishing templates instead of selecting Template CategoriesTemplate Topics drop-down menu

There is also a new Template Selection drop-down section, where you can select how your users will receive their emails. Your choices are from RandomFull Random, and AIDA Selected. To learn more about Template Selection options, see our Automatic Template Selection article.

This section also includes an Available Templates drop-down subsection, which you can expand to view the list of templates that will be sent to your users. From this list, you can view the languages that the templates are available in. You can also preview the templates.

Important: For templates to populate in this section, you'll need to select at least one group to enroll in the campaign.
