Enrolling Your Employees in Security Awareness Training
For your first training campaign, we recommend enrolling all of your employees in a comprehensive training module which will discuss cybersecurity issues such as spam, phishing, spear-phishing, malware, ransomware, and social engineering, and how they can apply this knowledge in their day-to-day job.
Our 45-minute "Kevin Mitnick Security Awareness Training" covers all of these topics. This course is a web-based interactive training which is split into four modules that an employee can complete over time.
If there are concerns about the length of the course, we also have shortened versions (15 and 25 minutes) of this course available. However, keep in mind that users do not have to complete the 45-minute training in one sitting. We will save their progress as they advance through the course.
Note:
You can also send out a link to your users to describe how to access their KnowBe4 training. Check it out here.
Here is an example of what your first training campaign can look like:
- Name: Security Awareness Training
- Start date: Set as applicable.
- End date: We recommend selecting a "relative duration" of 2-4 weeks. This will provide all enrolled employees that duration to complete their training.
- You can edit the end date or make this campaign a “no end date” campaign at a later time if needed.
- Courses: Kevin Mitnick Security Awareness Training, or a similar comprehensive security awareness training module. We recommend your selected module prior to setting up the training campaign for your users.
- Groups: All users
- Check box to "automatically enroll users" that are added in the future.
- This will ensure any new employees added to your user list will be enrolled in the training while it is still in progress.
- Click +Add Notification and select the following at a minimum:
- Notification Type: Welcome
- Check box next to "User". This means the end-user enrolled in training will receive the notification at the campaign's start date/time or upon their enrollment in the training.
- Preview the default template by clicking the magnifying glass icon to ensure it meets your needs.
- Click "Save".
- Notification Type: Remind After Enrollment or Remind Before Due Date
- Check box next to "User". This means the end-user enrolled in training will receive the notification a specified number of days after their enrollment date or before their due date.
- Preview the default template by clicking the magnifying glass icon to ensure it meets your needs.
- Click "Save".
Note:
You can edit the content of training notifications if you’d like to include additional helpful information for your users. Do this by clicking the "Manage Notification Email Templates" link when adding a notification to your training campaign.
